People's behaviors around weight have always fascinated me. So many people say they want to lose weight and so few actually do it and keep it off, too. Why?
After years of trying, I finally lost a lot of weight (100lbs.) and kept it off for over 12 years now. I know how I eat and exercise, but I was curious as to what other people who've also lost a lot of weight do.
I put together this list of tips from people who have lost at least 100 lbs. and kept it off. I thought I'd pass their amazing secrets along to you! n.joy.
Eat healthier versions of your favorite foods
Eat 5 or 6 small meals per day
Eat mostly veggies, salads, meats and nuts
Switch from sugary drinks to water
If you're especially hungry, eat twice as many vegetables

Split a meal with a friend in a restaurant or order a take out box immediately and box 1/2 up for another meal.
Shop the perimeter of the grocery store
Prepare food ahead of time. Make big batches and seal or freeze for later or for lunches at work
If you can't get to the gym, use music for your work out. Set a timer to keep yourself motivated until it's time to be done.
Don't make a habit of french fries or sugary drinks.
You can get addicted to sugar, believe me
Give yourself a mental and physical gift by exercising first thing in the morning, before you get involved in ANYTHING else. Only then can you do your best for others
Stay in the present. No use worrying about was what or what will be. Eat for the day ahead of you to nourish your body and mind
Make a habit of swapping healthy snacks for junk food. Bring healthy food with to events if possible
Eat a balance of protein, fats and carbohydrates at every meal
Bring healthy food and snacks to work
Exercise during your lunch break if you can
Start with small goals and work your way up. If 30 seconds of exercise is all you can do then start there
Eat on a small plate
Withdraw from sugar if you're addicted and you'll have no more relentless hunger
Quit drinking, cut carbs and start exercising
Start with the basics. They are nutrition, exercise and mindset
Do it so you can participate in your children's live's in a more active way
Seek social support
Don't get discouraged, keep trying
Have fun exercising
You can get your body back.... You can feel healthier and pain free again
